A Valued Community Volunteer and Artist
Anne Lear shares the years gone by
"A Retrospective since Notre Dame"
Painting, Collage and Mosaic Art Exhibit
April 9 to May 9, 2011

Anne Lear has had a connection with desert all of her life. Throughout the years, the Lear family visited her Uncle Robert, a pioneer of 29 Palms who built his home at the corner of Lear Avenue and the 29 Palms Highway, where the lit up fence exists today. During Anne's family visits she learned to appreciate the good weather, wide open spaces, and especially the starry nights, which led to her decision to retire to 29 Palms after her forty-three year career in teaching.

Anne's own education includes Immaculate Heart College, a degree from the University of San Francisco, and then finally a Masters Degree in Art from Notre Dame University.

Since staking her claim in 29 Palms, Anne has been a valuable community volunteer, board member, and a featured artist at the historic 29 Palms Art Gallery & Guild. Also, an organizer for the art programs at the Artists' Workshops, and finally, she painted a mural on the inside wall of what used to be Kenny's Drugstore. Art works outside of the community include fourteen wood carvings for a chapel and a fourteen foot mosaic that was displayed at the California State Fair.

And now, in looking back, Anne has decided to bring the years past together in one exhibit since earning her Masters Degree in Art from Notre Dame University, called "A Retrospective since Notre Dame". The exhibit will have a range of paintings from unusual coloring in portraits to monochromatic schemes to her eye-popping collages that create wonderfullayers of depth with torn pieces of paper.

"A Retrospective since Notre Dame", by Anne Lear will be on display from April 9 to May 9, 2011, with an artist reception on April 9, Saturday, from 3:00pm to 6:00pm.
