Jeannie Houston-Antes
The 29 Palms Creative Center & Gallery presents "Cotton Candy, Carnies, and Corn Dogs… the circus of life", a mixed media mosaics exhibit by Jeannie Houston-Antes, opening on Saturday, February 26, 6 - 9pm.
The mixed media mosaics are inspired by Jeannie's childhood visits to the National Orange Show Fair, where incredible images of freak show posters, tattooed carnies and the smell from the Hot Dog-on-a-stick trailer filled her senses.
The pieces are constructed from found object kitsch, costume jewelry, tile, glass, rocks and pretty much anything that can be glued down and grouted.
Jeannie Houston-Antes is a mosaic artist working in Big Bear Lake. She has won
Jury prizes from the Society of American Mosaic Artists and created commission mixed media mosaics for Olympic gold medal snowboarder, Shaun White; Illusionist, Criss Angel, Courtney Cox-Arquette, and gold medal volleyball players, Reid Priddy and Ryan Millar.
The exhibition entitled "Cotton Candy, Carnies, and Corn Dogs… the circus of life" is on display until March 26.
The artist's reception is free to the public, you can meet the artist, and libations will be provided on Saturday, February 26, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.
